Marvin Barnes played in the ABA and NBA from 1974–1986. He played alongside legends like Dr J and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar but his career was cut short because of his off court issues with drugs.
Vince Carter, who played in the NBA, was/is the best dunker of all time. In some alternate universe, he’s saving the world from King Kong.

This piece was inspired by NBA superstars from the 90s and 2000s. There is a never ending discussion on who is the greatest of all time (G.O.A.T.) in the NBA and the comparison is always made with Michael Jordan and whoever else. To me, Kobe Bryant is the closest person to Michael Jordan. I wanted to portray MJ and Kobe as great warriors by intertwining them with the Asian culture, giving them characteristics of a samurai and Shaolin monk. The bull behind MJ represents the team he played for during his prime and it also symbolizes his sheer ferocity and strength as a competitor. The snake behind Kobe represents his nickname as a the “Black Mamba.” This alter ego was adopted from the Quentin Tarantino film, Kill Bill. The mamba snake was code for “deadly assassin” and he was nothing short of that on the court. So who would be victorious in this fantasy battle between two legendary warriors?
